The New Mainstream Perception of the World

Not everyone is affected, but there is a growing segment of the population who primarily experiences the world through their digital  screens. Their perception of reality is shaped more by what they see on their devices than by real-life experiences. This leads to a skewed view of the world, influenced by drama, anger, trickery, misinformation, shaming, conspiracies, and nonsense, all amplified through an unregulated electronic lens. The constant exposure of information can is in free form, with platforms like TikTok becoming a sort of university for this audience,  masking as a credible source.  TikTok is certainly fun but blurs reality for many.  In fact is is their reality.

In contrast, prior  generations were more influenced by reality augmented with print and television, rather than digital screens augmenting reality.  Today, the digital screen is the main attraction, often filled with misinformation and harmful ideas that greatly impact their lifestyle. Although there is a universe of incredible information and entertainment available online, this audience is more drawn to the internet's cheap thrills.

This trend is expected to continue growing in the coming years as this new era continues to generate a reality based on their digital perception of life.

Programming and marketing to them offers interesting challenges and solutions on 2023 terms beyond simply migrating content to these platforms.
